Applications
1,2-Epoxytetradecane – Applications
It acts as a reactive monomer and diluent for cationic and UV-curable systems. It undergoes ring-opening polymerization to incorporate flexible long alkyl side chains into epoxy polymers, reducing viscosity and improving wettability. The cured films gain better flexibility and impact resistance. It is applicable to UV-curable coatings, inks and adhesives, lowering brittleness without sacrificing curing speed.
It is a raw material for lubricant and fuel functional additives. It reacts with phosphorus-, sulfur- or nitrogen-containing compounds to yield oil-soluble anti-wear, friction-modifying and anti-corrosion additives. Its long carbon chain features good compatibility with base oils and forms a protective layer on metal friction surfaces to cut friction and prevent corrosion, ideal for automotive transmission fluids and industrial lubricants.
